dirk strider is a fifteen year old kid who has grown up with absolutely no real life measure of what basic human interaction looks like, with his only reference being the internet. as a result he has an all present, encompassing fear of accidentally doing some cringe shit when he eventually meets jane jake and roxy in person. y'know. some real fortnite epic fail moment content. every day he studies what he can of human culture as diligently as possible, training every day for the moment they will finally meet so he can RADIATE the impression of a well-adjusted, typical chill dude bro. which of course he is, don't get me wrong. when they all eventually meet up, it seems fine. things seem to be sailing smoothly. he is in 100 percent complete control over himself and his body. a perfect machine. a fine tuned vessel. and then. one morning. dirk and jake are sitting and shooting the shit while taking a break on LOTAK. jake says some dumb bullshit like "gee whiz dirk isn't this planet grand? i can't believe they recreated krypton from superman in real life for this!" and dirk, without even thinking about it in his attempt to prove jake wrong, says, "well, first of all, everypony including you should know krypton is an actual -" and jake says "haha! what?" and dirk shatters into a million little mortified pieces
